Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CampusOptics?

CampusOptics is a cross-functional EHS platform designed specifically for institutions of higher education. CampusOptics was created to help campus safety professionals improve collaboration, reduce institutional risk and enhance safety culture.

Why are you switching to CampusOptics?

CampusOptics will allow us to have a one-stop shop for all things EHS. Campus customers will have a single, customizable dashboard giving them real-time visibility to all their health, safety and environmental compliance information.

Who will use CampusOptics?

From laboratory researchers to facilities shop supervisors, contractors looking for a Safety Data Sheet or submitting a hot work permit, anyone who interacts with Environmental Health and Safety or our resources will be using CampusOptics in one way or another.  While research laboratory personnel and those requesting hazardous waste disposals will likely be the heaviest users, don’t worry  - you will likely get to experience the new customer friendly platform, too!

What do I need to do to prepare for the switch to CampusOptics?

EHS asks that if you have a current chemical inventory in EHS Assistant that you verify your inventory is accurate and make any updates to the inventory by December 12, 2025.  Once the implementation is complete, we will ask that everyone log in to the new platform and verify the information associated with their profile is accurate.

Will you provide training?

Absolutely!  Training will be provided in a variety of ways.  Check this website frequently for links to task specific tutorial guides, upcoming live training sessions, links to recorded training webinars and more.  Additionally, EHS staff will be available to provide hands-on training to laboratories, shops and other users of the platform.  Stay tuned for more information coming in December 2025!
