Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Scooter Safety

While The Ohio State University supports alternative mobility options, it is important that we keep the safety of our campus community a top priority. While there is increasing scooter traffic that occurs on campus, scooter operators should review and adhere to the following rules and safety tips.

Safety Tips

  • Be mindful of where the scooter is parked to ensure that campus pathways are accesible and safe - avoiding any trip hazards or collisions.
  • Upon arriving at your destination, remember to dismount as you exit the roadway and walk the scooter to the nearby rack.
  • Park scooters next to a bike rack or in the designated scooter parking zones and avoid leaving them in building entrances and sidewalks to avoid trip hazards.
  • Scooters may not be left in pedestrian pathways, vehicle parking spaces, (including ADA spaces and ramps), stairwells, inside buildings, doorways, or areas that block egress or ingress.
  • If you do observe scooters that are illegally or improperly parked, report them to the Scooter Company’s mobile app or their online wesbite (i.e., Lime, Bird and Spin).
