Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Tornado Safety

As we enter into the spring season where tornadoes become a more serious threat, here are some safety precautions to know in the event of a tornado:

  • Stay weather aware: be sure to know in advance when severe weather will arrive.
  • Make sure your mobile devices are charged should a storm knock out electricity.
  • Review your personal emergency plan and check your supplies and your surroundings in the event your area is affected.
  • Be prepared to go to a campus storm shelter or the best available refuge area if you are not at home or in a safe position.

Tornado Warning: Get to a safe place now; a tornado has been spotted or indicated on a radar.

Tornado Watch: Be ready to move to a safe place; conditions are favorable for tornados to occur.
