Clear the Air: Importance of Ventilation for Your 3D Printing Space

3D printing, particularly using materials like plastics (PLA, ABS, nylon) and resins, can release potentially hazardous fumes and particulates into the air. Effective ventilation and fume management are essential for protecting the health and safety of 3D printer users.

Two things to note:

  • Ventilation and Enclosures
    • 3D printers should be used with local exhaust ventilation systems and enclosures to capture harmful fumes and particulates directly at the source, preventing them from spreading into the workspace.
  • Material Selection
    • Choosing printing media with lower emissions, like PLA instead of ABS, reduces the release of harmful fumes and particulates, minimizing the overall exposure in the 3D printing workspace.
